What We're About

2 Corinthians 5:17 says:
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! (NIV) That means if you believe in and have faith in Christ, you are a totally new person!

Why is that important to me?
Take just a moment to think about life each day. Everything moves so fast, it seems out of control. Things around us are always changing. We have way too many things happening at once. And the worst part is, we always feel pressured to be someone else, to live up to other people's expectations, to have fun the way everyone else tells us to have fun. Unfortunately, we (you) were created for something much different, much better than this out of control world we live in. And the only way to experience that better opportunity is to be in Christ.

What does it mean to be in Christ?
Simply this...you admit that you have messed up. It's okay! Everyone has messed up. It's just that most people are too good, too proud, too whatever to admit that things really aren't going the way they'd like them to. If you can admit that you've messed up, that you're not living up to God's expectations for your life, and that you've tried to do things your own way, you're on the right track.

Okay, so I've messed up. So what?
Next, you put your faith in Jesus. What does that mean? Think of it like this. You're sitting in a chair right now. When you sat down, you had faith that the chair would hold you up. You didn't get down on your hands and knees to check the legs of the chair. You didn't go take a class to find out how the chair was made and then inspect it. You just had faith that the chair would hold you up. Jesus Christ wants to hold you up. Your life is difficult enough and there aren't many things that you can really trust in to take care of you. But Jesus Christ says that if you call to Him and ask Him to take care of you that He will do just that! You don't have to know all about Him. You just have to have faith that He will do excatly what He promises.

How do I ask Jesus to take care of me?
All you do is just be quiet for a moment. Clear your mind of all the other stuff from the day. Take a deep breath, and pray this prayer:
"Jesus, I don't know all about You. But I do know that I don't have it all together. I am learning that You created me for something much better than the chaos my life is right now. So, I'm asking for Your help. please forgive me for trying to live without You for so long. As much as I understand right now, I am putting my faith and trust in You to take care of me. Thank You for giving Your life for me. Help me to get closer and closer to You each day, so that I can enjoy all that You have for me. Take charge of my life. I want to follow You. In Jesus' name, Amen."

That was great! You really have something to be proud of! You are now a part of the family of God, and you have just taken your first step on the path the you have always been created for. It's time to celebrate. Let others who have also taken this step celebrate with you. Call Pastor Ray and tell him about your decision to be in Christ. And smile! You're a new person now!
